Brigadoon
October 29 - November 27, 2004
Brigadoon, written by the duo of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Lowe tells the tale of a Scottish village that became enchanted centuries ago. The community remains unchanged and invisible to the outside world except for one special day every one hundred years. On that day it can be seen and visited by outsiders.
The visitors might be allowed to stay but if even one person leaves Brigadoon, the spell will be broken. By fortunate coincidence, two New Yorkers in Scotland on a hunting trip stumble upon a remote, misty glen on the very day that Brigadoon makes it's brief, centennial appearance. Our hero Tommy soon falls in love with a local lass, Fiona MacLaren, but as the two visitors quickly discover, this mysterious little town will evaporate as suddenly as it appeared, like the mist on the moors.
Brigadoon features the sentimental song favorites "The Heather On The Hill", "Almost Like Being In Love and "I'll Go Home With Bonnie Jean"
